We’ve already shared some catchy lamps from DCW Editions, and today we’re introducing another one – the GRAS lamp.
Bernard-Albin Gras was one of the most innovative designers of the 20th century. The functional aesthetics of his lamps and especially the design of details such as the arms, stems, brackets and bases were really original and way ahead of its time. In 1921, Bernard-Albin GRAS designed a range of lamps for use in offices and industrial environments. The GRAS lamp, as it was later called, was amazing in its simple, robust, yet very ergonomic design. In the basic form there are neither screws nor welded connections.
This is a reincarnation of the famous GRAS lamp. It is an outdoor series, a very special collection made of stainless steel. These lights do not illuminate a wall, but are used to create a living area – such as when placed over an outdoor table – to create a natural extension of the interior space. The proportions of the Lampes Gras XL are scaled for the outside area according to the facades or terraces on which they are placed.
