In 1959, Bodil Kjær created a wide range of modern furniture that is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Now, almost six decades later, Carl Hansen & Son has added the Danish architect’s indoor-outdoor series to its collection.
The indoor-outdoor series is made of teak and was originally developed for the American market. It consists of a deck chair, a small table, a dining table, a dining table, a two-seater lounge sofa, a rocking sofa and a sun lounger. Earlier representations in the collection were made from mahogany, teak, and ash. Each piece is made of high quality materials and superior craftsmanship, so the collection can withstand weather conditions like in Denmark such as direct sunlight, rain, fog and wind.
The BK14 sun lounger is slim and streamlined, but reassuringly robust. It is just as appealing to look at as it is to lie down. Like the rest of the collection, the solid teak construction of the sunbed has a simple geometric quality and is designed to be wonderfully weatherproof over time. Complementary cushions made of weather-resistant Sunbrella material are also available and offer elegant relaxation with optimal comfort. The BK11 lounge chair has a linear shape influenced by cubism. The chair’s solid teak construction is designed to patina wonderfully with age and use. The result of the professional workmanship is an inclined seat and an inclined backrest with armrests, legs and runners that are put together to form two squares.
